What if Bush had ordered preemptive action in the summer of 2001 in response to warnings of an impending terrorist attack? TNR's Easterblogg has a fanciful alternate history of the Bush administration. While this scenario is more funny than it is realistic, it underscores the point that the administration probably couldn't have done much with the vague and disparate pieces of information it had. So far -- though everything could change if new evidence surfaces -- it just doesn't look like the administration could have plausibly prevented 9/11.Back to the Odd Hours main page
