Gun immunity bill struck down in the senate 

A bill which would have granted gun manufacturers blanket immunity from lawsuits (which, unbelievably, many democrats were prepared to vote for; no thanks Tom Daschle!) was struck down today in the senate. After some weird procedural stuff (two amendments were added to the bill, passed by narrow margins: one renewing the assault weapons ban and the other requiring background checks at gun shows) both parties now opposed the bill, which failed 90-8.
